short-term counseling for family members during pivotal moments
If you have a family member who is aging or whose health is ailing, you know how hard it can be to communicate with everyone involved in making decisions for your loved one. Emotions run high, the path forward can feel obstructed, and family dynamics and history can interfere with making progress. Think of this program as a communication tune-up.
I want you to feel:
-guilt-free and ready to play your personal role in supporting your loved one (ditch the guilt)
-equipped to talk to your loved one about your concerns for their health (honesty with compassion)
-clear on your family’s values and how they impact decision-making regarding your loved one’s care (values are the compass)
-ready to communicate clearly and directly with your other family members (clear is kind)
-confident in your family’s ability to handle unexpected challenges (expect the unexpected)
Program Details
-
This program is designed to be short-term. We will initially schedule 5 sessions, with the option to add more if it is appropriate and desired by all involved.
-
Designed to cater to the needs of extended families with siblings who are busy. Sessions will be held virtually.
-
This therapeutic model is present-focused and goal oriented. It is a way to level set with all of the key players involved in your loved one’s care.
-
We will NOT be exploring every detail of your family history or long-held family dynamics. The goals for this program are to assess what is going on right now, and to establish ways forward that are aligned with your goals and values as individuals and as a family.
